Sickness and travel, oh my. Prayers Appreciated. :)

Hey y'all. Just wanted to post a quick update and a few prayer requests.

This has been a pretty good week, and we have been blessed with an abundance of rain. Praise God. La Guajira needs the rain a lot. The other night we had pouring rain, lightning lighting up the whole sky, and thunder booming through the sky. It was quite the storm and fun to watch.

But unfortunately, sickness came to our family this week and with the exception of James, we have battled upset stomachs, nausea, and head colds/congestion, We were all starting to feel better, but then last night Trinity developed a high fever. I took her to the doctor today and she has the flu virus so it just has to run it's course. Ugh. Poor thing, she is sooo stuffy and feels terrible. You know she's sick when she slows down this much. She's our little girl who is always on the go. Please pray for her that she will feel better quickly and that the medicine will keep the fever down. It keeps spiking up to 103 degrees f even with alternating acetaminophen and ibuprofen. The doctor didn't find any infection today and told us that it just has to run it's course.

And here's the thing, we are traveling tomorrow to Barranquilla, a 4-5 hour bus ride from Riohacha. Please pray that she can be comfortable on the bus ride and get rest. And pray that the rest of us stay well and can all travel comfortably and safely. It's a long bus ride for the kids. I think Knyanna would like it if I put this prayer request in to this blog. Please pray that the movies they show on the bus would be family friendly, specifically kid friendly or at least not scary. She has headphones and can play games on our phones and listen to music, but she gets scared if she looks up and sees scary images. That was her only concern when I told her we were going on the bus. She said when there are scary sounds, she can still hear it sometimes through her headphones. So on behalf of Knyanna, please pray that they don't show scary movies and instead show something she can watch.

Why are we traveling to Barranquilla you might ask? :) Well, here's the great joy in our week!! Our son, Andrew is coming for a visit!! He is flying into Barranquilla because it's the cheapest place to fly into right now. Plus it's a good opportunity for him to get to see a little more of Colombia, :) So that's our other prayer request. Andrew is flying out of North Carolina tomorrow morning bright and early and will travel all day with two plane changes. Please pray for him as he travels, for safety and that he will make all his connections smoothly. We are sooo excited to see him and spend time with him!!

God bless each of you and please let us know how we can pray for you too.

Thank you,
The Haylett Family

  1. We had good luck asking them to do kid friendly videos or even bringing along a video (DVD) of ours and having them play it. You might try that route. (I hate the scary movies, too!)
