Quarantine in Colombia is Over

Today, September 1st, Colombia's quarantine, that began on March 20th, came to an end. Instead they are switching to preventative isolation in which those who test positive for coronavirus or exhibit likely symptoms will be isolated/quarantined.

Our kids are super excited that the quarantine is over and they can go outside our housing development!!

The only restrictions remaining in place are no gatherings permitted with more than 50 people, social distancing, and masks required to enter any building and recommended outside. Other than that, everything is opened up and people are free to go where they want, whenever they want, though people are urged to proceed with caution as the virus is still increasing here in Armenia, Colombia and isn't expected to reach it's peak until January. Schools will continue with virtual classes here in Armenia, Quindio until the end of the year. Whenever you enter a building, they take your temperature and give you a squirt of hand sanitizer. Some businesses are also entering information for contact tracing. Chris' gym is open now by reservation of a time slot. We were also told that parks are opening up.

Churches are able to meet, but with limits of no more than 50 people in the service, masks, social distancing, no singing, and limited to an hour long service. Adults of all ages are able to attend the service, there are no restrictions on the elderly attending church services, as previously expected. But children are still not able to attend per strong recommendations from the health advisors. This coming Sunday, September 6th, La Iglesia Nueva Esperanza will hold our first in person service since quarantine shut everything down. We are ready with all required biosafety protocols in place. To accommodate everyone, our services will be held in a building across the street from our church that is used for community events, since our church building would only fit about 10 people with the social distancing set up. Thank you for your prayers. We cherish your continued prayers as we slowly return to normal, or really this new normal. Here are some of the required signs we will hang up at church that explain and enforce the protocols:
