YUMMY! YUMMY! Fruit in Colombia is Yummy!

One thing we really like about Colombia is the fruit. There is a big variety of fruits we had never even seen before. There are a whole lot of different types of mangoes. I never even knew there was more than one type. And the mangos grew on the trees that lined the streets and were in yards in Riohacha. They were delicious!!

This video tells about the landscape of Colombia and shows some of the fruits we got to try while we lived in Colombia. We didn't try all they ones he talks about, but several of them. The video is shot in Bogota, the capital city that is about a 7 or 8 hour drive from Armenia, Colombia where we will be serving.

The first fruit he tries in the video, lulo, makes a great juice, but not so great just to eat. I was surprised he didn't make more of a face when he tried it. Other fruits to watch for that we have eaten and like are Maracuya (best as a juice too), granadilla (yum!), sapote, and melocoton. Guanabana is a weird tasting fruit. The kids love mamoncillo, but I don't really care for it. His description is pretty accurate, :). There are a couple of the fruits he tastes that I never heard of or tasted during our 3 years in Colombia.

Once we get back to Colombia, we would love to have you come visit us in Armenia. You can taste the fruit and other yummy Colombian food; see the church, foundation, and community we are serving in and meet Pastor Jorge, his wife Kristina, their son Felipe and the congregation; and even serve alongside us a bit if you'd like.
