We reached the go point of our financial partnership goals and were given the green light to go apply for our missionary visa at the Colombian Consulate in L.A. then head to Bogotá!, so we were off! Cristi's sister and her family live there so they picked us up at the airport and opened up their home to us. Well everything was going great, and then I went to the Colombian Consulate. I have to say the people at the consulate are very nice and helpful. They went through everything with me and made sure I had all my paperwork and everything was going great. Wait, did she just say I need a new letter? She shows me a letter and says it was to expire within a couple days, I look at the letter, it is in Spanish and I have no idea what it says. Wouldn't you know it, it is not a letter you can just type up and submit a new one and get it back the next day. So the consulate asked their folks in Bogotá if they could accept the letter and well we are still here in L.A. Currently it looks like we will be going down to Bogotá the middle of August. Please pray that we don't hit any more delays and that God moves this letter through the Colombian government extremely quick. Until we leave I have learned to be content where I am. If you talk to my family members you would hear that if I had my way we would have been in Colombia last year, but I have seen God work in His time accomplishing things for His glory and that is just awesome! Philippians 4:11 says,
"Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am."
I know this verse is talking about finances, but I think it goes for life also. I can say I have learned to be content in the circumstance I am in and will move on when God is ready to move us. I still want to get to Colombia like right now, but what I really want is to experience what God has in store for my family day by day. So if the trip takes a week, month, or longer I thank God for taking my family on this journey and letting us participate in His work all along the way!
